The Herd Index
Every Tuesday at 08:00 CET: how crowded each city is with visitors this week, from 0 to 100, and what to do about it.
First issue soon
The first Tuesday Herd Report goes out on Tuesday 3 November at 08:00 CET.
How it works
Each score adds up five things: cruise ships in port this week (25%), school and public holidays in the countries visitors come from (20%), how many people are looking the city up online (15%), holiday flats in the centre (20%) and visitor photos (20%). A missing input is left out and the rest are scaled up. The method is frozen as version 1.0; any change gets a new version number.
Weather is left out on purpose: rain changes how a crowd feels, not how many people come.
